A cleanup hike is planned for May 5 at Starve Hollow State Recreation, 4345 S. County Road 2755W, Vallonia.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is inviting the public to join in this event celebrating Earth Day, which was Sunday.

Activities will begin at the Forest Education Center. Besides the cleanup hike where participants can listen to the birds and look for spring wildflowers while removing litter from the property, there also will be landscaping with native plants in the garden behind the education center.

At the end of the day, participants can take home a tree to plant in their own yard.
