Key Club asking for Chemo Kit donations

The Seymour High School Key Club is working with Jackson County United Way to provide a student-led service project May 15 for the annual Day of Caring event.

Club members have chosen to create Chemo Kits to be donated to the Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

The goal is to provide 100 kits to be distributed by cancer center staff to patients who receive chemotherapy treatments.

The Key Club is asking the public to donate any of the following items for the kits: Five to 10 personal/travel size hand lotions (lavender is a preferred smell), five to 10 personal/travel size hand sanitizers, five to 10 lip balms, five to 10 personal/travel size mouthwash (alcohol free), five to 10 individual Kleenex packets, one bag of hard candies, one box of chamomile tea bags and one case of bottled water.

Club members will be creating activity books and journals to put in the kits May 15.

Donations may be made at the Seymour Community Schools central administration office, 1638 S. Walnut St., or may be sent with any Key Club member.
