Harry Keith Smallwood, 91, of Brownstown died Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 8:43 p.m. at Hendricks Regional Health, Danville, IN. He was a retired Brick Mason and a US Navy Veteran who served during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 112, Jackson County Republican Club and Brownstown Nazarene Church. Keith loved gardening and after retirement became an avid golfer. He thoroughly enjoyed the hours spent on the golf course with his foursome. He was a kind and considerate husband, father and grandfather.

He was born May 24, 1926 in Vallonia, IN to the late Harry M. Smallwood and Clara R. Weddell Smallwood. He married Betty I. Wheeler, his wife of 65 years, on October 9, 1948 in Brownstown. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2013. He is survived by his 3 children, Rhonda (James) Smallwood-Filiatreault of Lexington, South Carolina, Jeffrey (Marijane) Smallwood of Avon, IN, and Judith (George) Smallwood-Bobinski of Vestal, New York; 6 grandchildren, Bill (DeeDee) Filiatreault, Brad (Dottie) Filiatreault, Hiley (Anthony) Killian, Kyle (Shannon) Smallwood, Allison (Brian) Kelvie, & Katie Bobinski; 9 great grandchildren survive.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret Pollard, Carmen Vehslage, Carol Thayer, and Roger Smallwood.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday, April 2nd from 5-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 until the time of service. Burial will take place at the Fairview Cemetery with full Military Graveside Rites. Memorial contributions may be given to the Brownstown Church of the Nazarene or Wheeler Mission. .
