Grand View University Choir to Perform Locally

The Grand View University Choir from Des Moines, Iowa, plans to perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Borchers, 10792 N. County Road 210E, Seymour.

The tour program, New Life Will Grow, arises from the Christian church’s Lenten and Easter seasons and springtime around us in nature. The program consists of works from the sacred choral tradition.

The performance its part of a 10-day spring tour through Iowa, Missouri, Indiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York.

According to a news release from the university, theology in song shines through the magnificence of ancient chant in modern guise, masterful renaissance polyphony and moving works by modern composers, including Robert Speed, Alice Jordan, Stephen Paulus, Elaine Hagenberg, Connor Koppin, Alice Parker and Moses Hogan.

Kathryn Pohlmann Duffy is chairwoman of music department and director of the choir.

Grand View University is a four-year liberal arts university of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
