Two people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle wreck Thursday morning at Tipton Street and Community Drive on Seymour’s west side.

Manuel Martinez-Martinez, 57, of Seymour sustained the most serious injuries in the wreck, Seymour police officer Chip Petro said.

“He may be transferred to Indianapolis,” Petro said of Martinez-Martinez, who was taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour after being treated by medical personnel with Jackson County Emergency Medical Services.

Petro said Martinez-Martinez was driving a 2001 PT Cruiser west on Tipton Street when it was struck by a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire being driven east on Tipton Street by Trisha Fields, 18, of Seymour.

Petro said the wreck occurred as Fields was attempting to turn left onto Community Drive in front of Martinez-Martinez.

She received a warning for failure to yield the right of way.

Fields complained of having a sore knee but was not hospitalized.

A passenger in her vehicle, Cody Chambers, 20, of Norman, was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel and taken to Schneck. His condition was not available at press time.

James Kelley, 54, of Seymour was driving the third vehicle involved in the wreck, Petro said.

Kelley’s 2015 Chevrolet pickup was damaged as he sat on Community Drive waiting to turn west onto Tipton Street. Kelley was not injured, Petro said.

Seymour firefighters assisted at the scene.
