UPDATED at 8:23 a.m.: The southbound lanes of Interstate 65 between U.S. 50 and State Road 11 have reopened after a crash that led to the death of a trucker early Sunday morning, Sgt. Stephen Wheeles reports.

Additional information about the crash, which involved two semitrailers, is expected to be released later today, said Wheeles, who is public information officer for the Indiana State Police Post at Versailles.

UPDATED at 7:50 a.m.: The southbound lanes of Interstate 65 between U.S. 50 and State Road 11 are expected to be open within an hour, Sgt. Stephen Wheeles reports.

Those lanes had been closed because of a wreck near the 53-mile-marker involving two trucks said Wheeles, public information officer for the Indiana State Police Post at Versailles.

The driver of the truck that caught fire has died, Wheeles said.

UPDATED at 7 a.m.: The driver of a semitrailer that caught fire after being involved in a wreck with a second truck Sunday morning at the 53-mile-marker Interstate 65 near Seymour has died, police report.

Work to clean up the crash scene continues and southbound lanes at remain closed at this time, said Sgt. Stephen Wheeles with the Indiana State Police.

UPDATED at 4 a.m.: The northbound lanes of Interstate 65 at U.S. 50 in Seymour have reopened after a crash involving two commercial motor vehicles, police report.

That crash occurred in the southbound lanes at the 53-mile-marker. Southbound lanes remain closed at the 55-mile-marker, Sgt. Stephen Wheeles reported.

One of the trucks caught fire and the cleanup is expected to be lengthy, Wheeles reported.

Motorists traveling south on the interstate will have to exit at State Road 11; head south and turn left on Burkhart Boulevard in Seymour; and then turn left onto Tipton Street (U.S. 50) before heading back to the interstate.

A major crash involving two semitrailers has forced police to shutdown all lanes of Interstate 65 at the 53-mile-marker, police report.

One commerical motor vehicle is fully engulfed, according to report from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles with the Indiana State Police.

Wheeles said police have shut down northbound lanes at the 50-mile-marker (U.S. 50) and the southbound lanes at the 55-mile-marker (State Road 11).

The closure will be lengthy and motorists are being advised to seek alternate routes, Wheeles said.
