Regional tickets for sale

Trinity Lutheran High School is selling tickets for Saturday’s girls basketball regional at West Washington High School.

Cost is $10 at the school, and tickets will be on sale until Friday at 4 p.m.

The Cougars will play at noon, and again at 8 p.m. should they advance.

Scipio baseball leagues planning signup days

Scipio baseball signups will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday and Feb. 18 at Scipio Firehouse.

There will be leagues for boys and girls from ages 4 to 12, and age ranges will be divided as signup numbers allow. Registration is $20 for the first player and $15 for each additional player in the same household.

Crothersville players earn honors

Two Crothersville High School juniors were named to the All-Southern Athletic Conference girls basketball team Monday.

The Tigers’ Tayler Brewer and Piper Hensley made All-SAC.

Speed and Strength Club gaining steam

Seymour High School football coach Mike Kelly is welcoming all Seymour-area athletes to the Speed and Strength Club. The club is to help young athletes develop and improve speed, strength and power.

The club is not sport or gender specific, with both boys and girls having equal opportunities to improve and grow.

Focuses include: agility, flexibility, form lifting, speed development, circuit training, form running, plyometrics, improved balance and core strength.

All sessions are taking place at Bulleit Stadium on the Seymour High School campus.

Session No. 3 will be Mondays and Thursdays from Feb. 26 through March 15. Session No. 4 will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 17 through May 10.

The club is open to students from second through sixth grades. First-graders will be accepted at the coaches’ discretion.

Each sessions builds off  the previous fundamentals and techniques learned.

There is no cost, and registration is on-site.

New wrestling show set

For the first time, the IHSAA will announce the pairings for the wrestling state finals via web stream.

Sunday, each bracket in the 14 weight classes will be revealed on IHSAAtv.org beginning at 4 p.m.

The show will be hosted by Greg Rakestraw and Hall of Fame coach Mike Goebel.

The 224 wrestlers qualifying for the 80th annual state finals will begin with first round matches Feb. 16 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Those winning individuals will return Feb. 17 for quarterfinal action with championship bouts culminating the evening.
