Owls diver 17th

BLOOMINGTON — Seymour junior Breanna Hammond placed 17th at the IHSAA Girls Diving Regional at Bloomington North on Tuesday.

Only one of Hammond’s eight dives scored above 30 points before she was cut from the competition. She finished with 209.45 points.

“I feel like I did pretty well. There were a few dives that I probably could have done better but there is always room for improvement,” Hammond said.

Mooresville’s Sadie Mills won the regional title with an 11-dive total of 407.00 points. Center Grove’s Sarah Kempf was second with 391.35 points and Greenwood’s Faith Jackson was third with 381.45 points.

Rounding out the top eight state qualifiers were: Hailey Brown, Jennings County, 354.55; Maggie Gregory, Columbus East, 346.55; Valorie Marx, Evansville Reitz, 346.35; Colleen Ray, Castle, 342.20; and Anya Davenport, Floyd Central, 332.10.
