The Phi Beta Psi Theta Omega chapter is hosting a fundraising event that will support its national project of cancer research.

The Phi Beta Psi Cancer Dance, set for Saturday at Pewter Hall, 850 W. Sweet St., Brownstown, involves a dinner and dance in which local high school senior girls vie for the queen title.

This is the 46th year for the gala, which features an “Alice in Wonderland” theme.

The queen candidates are Briley Abraham, Lucy Cooper, Sophia Gorman, Bailey Lewis, Grace Otte, Victoria Snook and Kellsye Warner.

Collection containers have been placed by the candidates at various business locations asking for a penny-a-vote donation. The queen will be announced Saturday night. She will be the contestant who raises the most money through the collection containers, as well as individual efforts to obtain donations from family, friends, neighbors and businesses.

Anyone wishing to make a tax-deductible donation may contact any of the candidates.

Dinner will be provided by Pewter Hall and will feature music by the Third Generation Band from Indianapolis. Tickets are $75 per couple or $37.50 for a single ticket and may be purchased from any sorority member.
