Jackson County Farm Bureau President Marcia Monroe of Brownstown attended the national convention of the American Farm Bureau Federation on Jan. 7, 8 and 9 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The featured speakers included country music singer Reba McEntire; Zippy Duvall, president of the American Farm Bureau Federation; Sonny Perdue, U.S. secretary of agriculture; Lawrence MacAulay, Canadian minister of agriculture; and President Donald Trump, who signed two rural broadband bills while onstage.

The federation’s role is to promote a positive image of agriculture and encourage agricultural literacy.

Farm Bureau members unite to speak out on issues of concern for the nation’s farmers and ranchers, rural Americans and consumers who care about maintaining the nation’s food security.
