Raymond “Chopper” Chastain, 77, of Seymour passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Seymour Crossing Nursing Home.

Born September 24, 1940 in Gainesville, Georgia., he was the son of Ray and Pansy Loraine (Henderson) Chastain.

Raymond was a kind man who was always willing to help others. He will be remembered as a man with a great sense of humor and quick to tell a joke. He loved the Lord, gospel music and music from the 50’s and 60’s, loved his family and friends and laughing. Raymond was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour and served in the United States Army. He retired from Pantasote after 25 years of service.

He is survived by his children, Mary (Clay Livesay) McConnell and Davis Chastain; two grandchildren, Mike McConnell and Rachel McConnell; three brothers, O’Dean Chastain, Larry (Joanne) Chastain and Ralph (Milly) Chastain and his sister, Nancy (Gene) Chastain.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Diane Chastain.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre with Rev. Van Breeding officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre.
