Three Seymour Middle School eighth-grade choir students have been selected to perform in this year’s Indiana Middle School All-State Honor Choir on Friday in Fort Wayne.

In October, Millie Hays, Carly Kaiser and Liza Stuckwisch recorded rigorous and challenging auditions and were chosen to perform with the 140-member choir, according to a news release from Seymour Middle School choral director Keith Stam.

Sponsored by the Indiana Music Education Association, students in this choir represent the best choir students in the state, Stam said.

The state is divided into several areas. Schools in Jackson County are in Area 8 along with Bartholomew, Brown, Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, Jennings, Ripley, Rush and Shelby counties.

Students who are eligible to audition must first be members of Circle the State with Song. Each year, there are thousands of middle school students who participate in the Circle the State with Song festival.

The three Seymour students will join the other students for two days of rehearsals. They will present their concert at Embassy Theater in Fort Wayne at the IMEA Professional Development Conference.

The concert begins at 4:30 p.m., with doors opening at 4 p.m.
