Owls finish 13th at tourney

Seymour scored 96 points to place 13th of 24 teams at the Mooresville Holiday Classic.

The two-day tournament concluded Thursday.

Isaiah Pichardo had the highest individual placing for the Owls, finishing fourth in the 106-pound class.

Pichardo finished 4-2 overall, with wins against Castle’s Nathan Shorter (pin, 1 minute, 19 seconds), Terre Haute South’s Tres Haskin (pin, 3:42), Jennings County’s Teagan Johnson (major decision, 14-1) and by a forfeit.

Owen Chandler placed sixth in the 113, finishing 3-3, with victories against Bloomington North’s James Sterling (pin, :19), Yorktown’s Zachary Todd (decision, 9-7), and Scecina Memorial’s Stuart Donlan (pin, 3:08).

Kevin Corrales took sixth in the 182 with a 3-3 record. Corrales toppled Westfield’s Sam Medlen (decision, 11-4), Hamilton Heights’s Noah Lawson (decision, 5-1) and Terre Haute South’s Martin Perez (decision, 6-3).

In the 152, Zack Newton was eighth (3-3). Newton beat Homestead’s Grant Webb (pin, 1:43) and took a pair of forfeit wins (one injury).

Top five scoring teams included; Yorktown (223.5), Brownsburg (220), Castle (208), Westfield (169) and Edgewood (165).
