The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees elected 2018 officers during a meeting Monday at the Seymour Library.

Those taking office in January are Joshua Bartley, president; Kathy Ellis, vice president; Susan Haskett, secretary; Sally Crouch, assistant secretary; and Mary Reed, treasurer.

The board also approved transferring more than $58,000 between major budget categories; payment of claims on hand through the end of the year; a March 23 after-hours lock-in at the Seymour Library; a 2018 salary resolution; surplus furniture and equipment; and changes to the internal controls policy.

The board reviewed progress on the 2017-19 strategic plan. Goals in the plan include having adequate staff to meet community needs, being the trusted source for information in the community, increasing community activities and promoting a safe community.

Bob Mahan was acknowledged for serving a maximum 16 years of service on the library board.

The board’s next meeting, which includes the annual meeting of the board of finance, is at 5 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.
