A North Vernon man was flown to a Louisville hospital early Friday morning when his truck left the road and hit a tree head on while traveling on U.S. 50 near Hayden, police report.

Justin Adams, 22, sustained serious injuries in the wreck reported at 4:02 a.m. near the Hickory Hill subdivision, Jennings County Officer Anthony Maberry said.

Adams was driving his Dodge Ram truck west on U.S. 50 when he missed a curve, said Maberry, who is a crash re-constructionist.

The truck left the roadway and struck the tree, he said.

Adams was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital. Maberry said he was uncertain of the extent of the injuries.

Adams’ seat belt and airbags were deployed, and most of the damage was on the front driver’s side, Maberry said.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation, he said.
