A Christmas open house is planned from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hayden Historical Museum.

There is no admission charge but visitors may make a donation to the museum.

The museum, the old Sinclair gas station and A Place Called Yesterday will be decorated for the Christmas season. Experience home entertainment from the days before electricity as Lester Tracy plays Christmas music on some of the antique musical instruments for everyone to enjoy in A Place Called Yesterday.

The 1965 living room in the museum’s exhibit area will feature an aluminum Christmas tree and some old Christmas cartoons will be playing on the black and white television set. The 1947 gas station also will be decorated and some old Christmas programs and music will be playing on the console radio.

Visitors will receive a special treat.

Homemade potato soup and other snacks will be served in the meeting room. One special attraction will be Susie Barlow’s famous dessert that she named the Hayden Haystack. This had been the former Hayden Depot Café’s signature dessert. Diners will be able to enjoy a video of some of the Bob Hope Christmas programs when he entertained the U.S. servicemen through the years.
