Mrs. Marian Phyllis Wever, 95, of Columbus and formerly of Medora, passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, in Columbus with her family by her side.

She was born in Medora, Indiana, on Nov. 21, 1922, the daughter of the late Joseph Lewis Eglen, Sr. and Ethel Bell Hendershot Eglen.

Mrs. Wever was a member of the Medora United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was an avid Pacers fan, member of the Seymour Order of the Eastern Star #134, and loved to play canasta and dominos. Some would say, she had a very competitive spirit to her! She operated as a beautician in Medora for 13 years. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother.

On December 10, 1938 she married Lawrence Alfred Wever in Medora. He passed away Dec. 8, 1974.

She will be greatly missed by her son: Gene (Beth) Wever; two daughters, Pat (Larry) Osborn and Beth (Mike) Woods; sister, Mary Fee, 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great- grandchildren.

Mrs. Wever is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son: Lawrence Joseph Wever, 4 brothers: Lewis, Eugene, Winfield and Horace Eglen, 3 sisters: Nona Persinger, Elizabeth Brown, and LaVon Brown; and one grandson Ernest Joseph Wever.

Funeral service will be conducted by Hague Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at the Medora United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lennie Lawrence, officiating.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, November 28, at the Medora United Methodist Church from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday after 9 a.m. until time of the service at the church. An Eastern Star service will be Tuesday 7:30 p.m.

A graveside service will be conducted by the Hague Funeral Home following the service on Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery.

Family asks that memorials be designated to the church or Joseph Wever Scholarship Fund through the Medora Masonic Lodge in care of the Hague Funeral Home of Medora.
