Braves shell Musketeers

BROWNSTOWN

Brownstown Central pounded a combined 41 kills in a 25-13, 25-12, 25-14 Mid-Southern Conference victory against Eastern (Pekin) on Tuesday.

Grace Jaynes totaled 15 kills, Keeli Darlage added 13 and Claire Pace totaled 10 to lead the Braves.

As a team, the Braves were 84-for-49 on hit attempts.

Brooklyn Snodgrass made 27 of 28 serve attempts, with eight aces, for the Braves. The Braves finished with 15 aces on the night.

Thursday, the Braves (1-0, 1-0 MSC) will play at Bloomington North.

Girls golf

Owls shoot season-low

Led by Bridget Marshall’s medalist score of three-over-par 39, Seymour shot a season-low for nine holes by scoring 180 in a tri-match with Bedford North Lawrence and Jennings County on Tuesday.

Bedford won the match with a 178 and Jennings County carded 211 at Shadowood Golf Course.

Laken Waskom was next for the Owls, shooting 48, Bailey Goben carded 47 and Madeline Wisler scored 48. Andrea Axsom rounded-out the Owls’ starting five with a 50.

On Saturday, the Owls will travel to the Jasper Invitational.
