VOLLEYBALL

Hornets get first win

MADISON

Medora defeated Christian Academy of Madison 25-16, 25-14, 25-9 to register their first win of the season Monday.

Katie Beesley led the Hornets with 20 hits, six kills and 12 aces on the evening. Kailen Flynn added 16 hits with six kills, and Alli Carney had 11 hits for the Hornets.

As a team, Medora made 53 of 63 hits with 18 kills. They had 19 aces serving.

The Hornets (1-1) will host Springs Valley tonight.

Cougars win opener

HENRYVILLE

Trinity Lutheran won their season-opener Monday by topping Henryville 25-16, 25-15, 22-25, 25-10.

Abby Hackman slammed 12 kills and Hannah Sabotin had 10. Sabotin also totaled 10 blocks in the match.

Lauren Knieriem topped the Cougars with 16 digs and Bailey Reyonlds placed six aces.

The Cougars (1-0) will host Borden on Thursday.

Tigers lose close match

BORDEN

Crothersville fell to Borden 25-22, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22 in a tight match on Monday evening.

Maddie Riley led the Tigers with 29 hits and eight kills and Rebekah Cook added 22 hits with four kills.

The Tigers (0-3) will host Austin on Thursday.

GIRLS GOLF

Braves shoot 204

BROWNSTOWN

Brownstown Central combined for 204 strokes during a match with Eastern (Pekin) on Monday at Hickory Hills Golf Club.

Pekin didn’t have a team score, only bringing one golfer to the course.

Emma Zabor led the Braves with a 14-over-par 49.

Shelby Stuckwisch shot 50, followed by KaCee Collings (52), Regan Campbell (53) and Ashlyn Fox (54).

The Braves will play at Scottsburg on Friday.
