House destroyed in fire

A local family lost their home and all of their belongings Saturday evening after a fire spread from a recreational vehicle to their house, a fire official said.

Redding Township Volunteer Fire Chief Seth Thompson said an RV sitting next to the house at 12243 East County Road 700N caught fire first.

Bob and Eliza Davis and their son, Bobby, lived at the residence.

Thompson said he didn’t know what started the fire in the RV, but said the home and camper were “a complete loss.”

Two garages on the property did not burn down, Thompson said.

Bob Davis was home at the time but was able to get out without injury and call 911. No one was injured as a result of the fire, Thompson said.

Firefighters remained at the scene for about four hours to put out the blaze, Thompson added. The fire was reported at 8:23 p.m.

Also responding were Jackson-Washington and Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Departments and Jackson County Emergency Medical Services.
