SEYMOUR

Emma L. Aikman, age 98 of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Covered Bridge Health Campus. Born January, 11, 1919 in Seymour, she was the daughter of Ernest and Marietta (Heitman) Kriete. On November 22, 1945 in Seymour, she married Paul Aikman.

Emma was a waitress for 43 years at the Seymour Country Club and then served at the Elks Country Club. She was a long-time member of the Central Christian Church where she served on several committees. Emma was also a member of the Loyal Devoir Society, a charter member of Seymour’s Chapter of Phi Beta Psi and a member of the Elks Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with son, grandkids and family.

Survivors include her son, Mark Aikman and his wife Elaine of Wilmington, N.C.; grandchildren, Jeremy Akin and Am y Albertson both of Wilmington; grandkids, Mia & Parker Akin, Madison and John Thomas Albertson and Emma Stermer. Emma also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, Harold Kriete, Don Kriete, Irene Engle and Charles Kriete.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Visitation will be from 3:00pm until service time. Burial will be 10:00am on Wednesday at Riverview Cemetery.
