Michael Chilton has ventured north to compete at Brownstown Speedway on numerous occasions over the past several seasons, but victory had always eluded the driver from Salvisa, Kentucky.

Saturday evening’s Battle of the Bluegrass Super Late Model Series event hosted 19 competitors eyeing the $3,000 prize money.

Chilton grabbed the lead on the first lap and maintained his position for the duration of the 30-lap event, notching his first career win into the record books at the speedway.

The margin of victory was a mere .606 seconds over Marty O’Neal, who charged from the 11th starting position who closed in on Chilton in the closing laps.

O’Neal is a two-time Super Late Model track champion at Brownstown.

Devin Gilpin, Joe Godsey, and Jason Jameson rounded out the top five finishers in the running order.

Godsey, who now resides in Missouri, made his first appearance of the season to Brownstown for competition.

“It was really great to come back to my local track,” Godsey said, who is the reigning track champion in the Super Late Model division at the speedway.

“We have a lot of amazing people here that have always supported my dreams of doing what I love.”

Steven Godsey picked up his first win of the season in the “P3 Graphix” Indiana Pro Late Model Series, besting Shelby Miles to the checkered flag.

“Shelby raced me hard, but he raced me clean,” Steven said in victory lane.

Starting from the 22nd position in the “Print Worx” UMP Modified feature, Devin Gilpin surged to his seventh victory of the year at the speedway.

Ryan Thomas finished runner-up with Jeremy Owens, Victor Lee, and Jacoby Hines placing in the top five.

Seymour’s Matt Boknecht currently leads the point standings in the division.

Jamey Wilson continued his dominance in the “Woolston Automotive” Super Stock division by winning his fifth feature of the season at Brownstown.

Last week’s winner, Josh Divine, finished second with Aubrey Eagin close behind in third.

Wilson, the defending track champion, is the current points leader with the division.
