Library plans three adult programs

Three programs for adults have been planned for July at Brownstown Public Library, 120 E. Spring St.

From 1 to 2 p.m. July 8, adults can learn how to set up an email account, send and forward emails and add contacts and get password help.

Those planning to attend the free class should bring their own computer, iPad or tablet if possible, but the library can make them available for those who don’t have one.

Adult program coordinator Natasha Perry will conduct the class. Registration is requested.

The Adult Book Club will meet at 11 a.m. July 14 to discuss “Still Alice” by Lisa Genova.

Alice Howland is proud of the life she worked so hard to build. At 50, she’s a cognitive psychology professor at Harvard and a world-renowned expert in linguistics with a successful husband and three grown children. When she becomes increasingly disoriented and forgetful, a tragic diagnosis changes her life — and her relationship with her family and the world — forever.

The Adult Book Club provides an informal, congenial atmosphere for patrons older than 18 to share their literary interpretations of the current book selection.

Everyone should read the month’s selection before the meeting. Those who haven’t may attend if they don’t mind hearing how the book ends. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the discussion, but listeners are welcome.

Light refreshments are served by club members on a volunteer basis. Extra copies of the book selection are available one month in advance at the library circulation desk.

Registration is required. Karen Raymer will lead the discussion.

To celebrate Independence Day, a free adult-only program to turn old paint sticks into American flags is planned for 6 to 7 p.m. July 20.

All supplies will be provided. Registration is requested and open to the public.

For information or to register for any library program, visit the circulation desk or call the library at 812-358-2853.
