The investigation into a dog recently being shot at least 27 times by someone with a pellet gun in Seymour has resulted in the arrest of a man on drug charges, police report.
Tim Woodard, 44, of Seymour, was arrested Wednesday at his home in the 400 block of Vehslage Road on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. He has not been charged in connection with the shooting of Jackson, an English mastiff, Detective C.J. Foster said.
Woodard’s home is next to the home where Jackson was shot while he was tied up in the fenced-in backyard, Foster said. The dog, which is less than a year old, continues to recover at the home at 414 Vehslage Road that he shares with his owners, Hayden Howard, and her 2-year-old son.

Woodard’s arrest came as police, investigating the shooting of the dog, obtained a search warrant for his home late Tuesday night, Foster said.
During a search of that home Wednesday morning, police found methamphetamine, marijuana and drugs leading to the drug charges against Woodard, he said. Several other people living at the home were not arrested, Foster said.
He said police also found evidence in the backyard of Howard’s home that may be related to the shooting of her dog. That evidence include BBs in a one of her trees that came from the direction of the yard of the home where Woodard was arrested.
“We are in the process of going through that evidence and some of it may be sent to the Indiana State Police lab for further examination,” he said.
Foster said that examination typically takes a little bit of time, so he wasn’t sure when police would have additional information about Jackson’s shooting.
Woodard was being held without bond Wednesday evening, pending his initial hearing.
