Braves win in five
AUSTIN
Brownstown Central scored nine runs in the fifth inning in a 13-3 run-rule victory at Mid-Southern Conference foe Austin on Thursday.
The Braves led 4-3 after four innings.
Leah Stidam scored on an error before Kaitie Taggart hit an RBI single to extend the Braves’ lead to 6-3.
With loaded bases, the Braves scored on a walk before Jami Bryant hit a three-run double to left field.
Bryant scored on a passed ball and the Braves went up by 10 on another Eagles error.
Austin finished with six errors in the game.
Bryant picked up the win in the circle with eight strikeouts, seven hits and no earned runs.
Brownstown (5-5, 2-1 MSC) will host Scottsburg on Thursday.

East too much for Owls
COLUMBUS
Columbus East didn’t drop a singles match in Thursday’s 4-1 victory against Seymour.
A lone point went to the Owls at No. 1 doubles, as Katie O’Mara and Addie Rudge defeated Alaysha Pollert and Kendall Gerken 6-1, 6-3.
Megan Baurle battled with Adycin Roger at No. 2 singles. After Baurle took the first set 6-4, Roger claimed the second 6-4. In a 10-point super-tiebreaker, Roger came out on top 10-5.
The Owls (3-5) will play in the Shelbyville Invitational on Saturday.
