Alvin A. Otte, 81, of Seymour passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, at Bethany Village in Indianapolis.

Born March 26, 1936, in Brownstown, he was the son of Walter and Clara Schroer Otte, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 29, 1958, at Brownstown Methodist Church, he married Donna Sue Nichter, who survives in Seymour.

He served in the National Guard and Air Force Reserve. He was a tool designer for Cummins Engine Co. for 23 years, Allison Transmissions for six years and several years for Ford Motor Co. in Indianapolis in the design engineering department. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, where he was involved with the stewardship board, served on the school board and was an usher and youth counselor along with other various church offices. He also was a member of the Elks Club.

Besides his wife, survivors include two children, Pamela K. Moellenhoff and Lori Lynne (Randy) Forgey; three grandchildren, Kyle David Moellenhoff, Erin Elyse Moellenhoff and Meghan Elizabeth Forgey; and a brother, Herman (Marie) Otte.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Otte.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez, the Rev. Philip Bloch and Vicar Joel Newton officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service in Seymour and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
