The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees received a report about programs and activities from Crothersville Library assistant Cindy Huckleberry during Monday’s meeting at the Crothersville Library.

Crothersville staff members plan to participate in the April 6 literacy night at the school.

A new card and game night for adults will begin on Mondays, and Curious Kids for school-age children will start in June.

Director Julia Aker reported that 2017 capital projects include meeting room and staff chairs and new carpet at the Medora Library. A new small group meeting media table was purchased at the end of 2016. Projects in 2018 may include parking lot seal and stripe at all three libraries, the replacement of the 2012 van and an elevator upgrade for the Seymour Library.

The board approved personnel changes and discussed information submitted in the 2016 library annual report. In 2016, the library had a big increase in use of computers and WiFi with 296,170 uses. Library staff answered more than 38,600 reference questions, and more than 35,000 people attended library programs throughout the year.

The board also was told the Evergreen Indiana video transiting began earlier that day. Library customers can now place holds on movies at more than 30 other libraries, and they will transit the way books and audiobooks do.

The next regular library board meeting is at 5 p.m. April 17 at the Seymour Library.
