Smoke alarm event postponed

Due to expected cold temperatures Saturday, the American Red Cross has postponed its home fire campaign event in Seymour.

It has been rescheduled for April 1.

That day, the Red Cross of Southern Indiana will join the Seymour Fire Department and the Medical Reserve Corps to make sure area residents have working smoke alarms on every level of their home, including inside and outside bedrooms.

Volunteers will be needed to help install free fire alarms and teach residents of Village Green Mobile Home Park off of South O’Brien Street in Seymour about fire safety. There will be morning and afternoon shifts. Lunch will be provided.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help install free smoke detectors or receiving a free smoke detector should call the Red Cross office at 812-522-3888.
