SEYMOUR
Steven Alan “Whiteman” White, 50, of Seymour, went to meet his heavenly father Saturday March 4, 2017, with his family by his side.
Born June 15, 1966, in Seymour, he was the son of Robert Lee and Melba Hoevener White, both of whom preceded him in death.
Steve was of the Christian faith throughout his life and believed in one God and the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Seymour and was confirmed in March 1980. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1984. His favorite memory from high school was when he pitched a no-hitter during his senior year.
He was a former member of American Legion Post 89 and most recently was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 655.
On January 6, 1990, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, he married classmate Kenna Gay Smith. They were blessed with 27 years of marriage and three healthy, beautiful children, Alexis Yvonne (Greg) Baxter, Steven Mitchell White and Kendall Robert Lee White. He was a truly dedicated, unselfish, wonderful husband and father who went above and beyond for his family.
Steve joined the workforce at age 15 at Redbrush Park and finished it at Aisin USA Mfg. Inc. in the press maintenance and kaizen departments, where he truly enjoyed his job and co-workers.
He loved nature and doing anything outdoors. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing, watching and teaching the game. He loved all types of music, from Merle Haggard to Metallica, but his favorite musicians were his sons.
Steve’s main goals in life were to work hard, take care of his family, take time to give to others and have as much fun as possible. He loved and cherished his parents, his big brother, Robert Lee “Bob” (Lea Ann) White, and his sisters, JoAnn (Jim) Schneider and Jane (Eric) Meahl. He was blessed with many awesome nieces and nephews.
True to form, Steve didn’t want anyone to waste a vacation day, so the funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Community Church in Seymour. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Jackson County, Trinity Lutheran High School basketball program or Community Foundation of Jackson County through Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre in Seymour, which handled arrangements.
