James Adrian Kendall, 78, of Denton, Texas, died at 1:56 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017.

Born March 16, 1939, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, he was the fourth of five sons of Paul and Merle Kendall, both of whom preceded him in death.

He graduated from Miller High School in Corpus Christi, attended the University of Texas and in 1965, finished medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. After serving 14 years as a general practitioner in Weslaco, Texas, and Austin, Texas, he completed a residency in anesthesiology at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

He served the remainder of his 50-year medical career as an anesthesiologist, retiring in Seymour in 2011.

Dr. Kendall served on many boards and was chief of staff at Pampa Regional Hospital in Pampa, Texas. He also was a member of the United States Army Reserve and a Mason. James enjoyed singing in church choirs, music, photography and sailing.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Becky Kendall; his son, Alan (Kathy) Kendall; daughter, Rebecca (Mark) Vineyard (Mark); stepson, Robert (Stephanie) Brice; brother, Robert Kendall of Houston; and four grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
