The Indiana Department of Transportation will replace two bridges and overlay a third along State Road 58 in Jackson and Bartholomew counties this construction season.

Milestone is INDOT’s contractor for a $1.1 million Southeast District bridge project that includes removal and replacement of single-span bridges on State Road 58 at Buck Creek, 4.32 miles east of State Road 258 in Jackson County, and over a branch of White Creek, 7.92 miles west of Interstate 65 in Bartholomew County.

A third single-span bridge — located on State Road 58 over the south fork of White Creek, 9.57 miles west of I-65 in Bartholomew County — will receive a 1¾-inch latex deck overlay.

All three sites will be cleared and trees removed during March.

The State Road 58 bridge over White Creek’s south fork is expected to close for up to 30 days in early April. Motorists will be rerouted along State Road 11, I-65 and State Road 258.

The State Road 58 bridge over a branch of White Creek is tentatively scheduled to close in mid-May. The bridge over Buck Creek in Jackson County is slated for replacement in mid-July.
