Open house planned for students, parents

Ivy Tech Community College is planning an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 for area high school 21st Century Scholars and their parents at the Columbus Learning Center, 4555 Central Ave.

The event will introduce students and their parents to the campus, inform them about college resources and provide information about Ivy Tech’s programs and how they prepare students for a career. Students also will have the opportunity to learn more about the 21st Century Scholars program requirements and deadlines.

All 21st Century Scholar students in grades 9 through 12 from Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson, Jennings and Decatur counties are invited and encouraged to attend.

More than 2,000 students across the five counties are enrolled in the 21st Century Scholars program. The program offers income-eligible Hoosier students up to four years of paid tuition at an eligible Indiana college or university after they graduate from high school.

While in high school, 21st Century Scholars are expected to complete a Scholar Success Program that helps them plan, prepare and pay for college completion. The final step of the program is to complete college successfully and enter a career pathway.

Students and parents are encouraged to RSVP by contacting Monica Ozaeta, Ivy Tech assistant director of admissions, by phone or text at 812-374-5129 or by email at [email protected].
