FREETOWN

Nyla Jane Anderson, 65, of Freetown passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born July 4, 1951, in Columbus, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Augusta Kelley Snyder, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 20, 1968, in Freetown, she married Johnny Mack Anderson, who preceded her in death June 21, 2003.

Nyla was very dedicated to her family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. She enjoyed working at Muscatatuck State Hospital for six years and at Schneck Medical Center for 11 years before she retired.

She attended Freetown Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening, a good book to read and her grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Michael Anderson and Cynthia Anderson Coffey; grandchildren, Derek Leonard, Chad and Gavin Anderson, Trista and Maci Ulrey and Brooke and Bryer Anderson; brothers, Keith Snyder, Kevin Snyder, Ken Snyder, Kyle (Debbie) Snyder and Lionel (Nina) Snyder; sister, Anita (Bob) Hubbard; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Sue Leonard; and a grandson, Travis M. Leonard, both of whom passed away May 18, 1998.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Freetown Church of Christ. Burial will be at  Freetown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
