Robert D. “Bob” Malone, 60, of Seymour passed away at 5:50 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, with his caring family by his side.

Born Dec. 9, 1956, in Seymour, he was the son of Preston R. Malone, who preceded in death, and Betty Greathouse Malone, who survives in Seymour.

Robert graduated from Seymour High School with the class of 1975. On Sept. 20, 1975, at Seymour Christ Temple, he married Martha H. Atwood, who survives.

Robert was affiliated with the Apostolic Pentecostal faith. He retired from Columbus Post Office after many years as a postal carrier.

He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, watching sports and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Columbus. He was a loving husband and wonderful father.

Other survivors include his children, Robert M. Malone, and Candace R. (Tyson) Davidson; sister, Marsha (John) Layton; brother, Mark (Donna) Malone; and nieces and nephews.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Lester and Beulah Greathouse and Fred and Mary Malone.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel with the Rev. Denny Allman and the Rev. Dennis Allman officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society for research.
