Jerald L. “Jerry” Himelrick, 73, of Shelbyville, formerly of Jennings County, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg.

Born July 29, 1943, in Westover, West Virginia, he was the son of Kenneth Jerald Himelrick and Violet Oliver Himelrick, both of whom preceded him in death. On Dec. 31, 2004, he married Jennifer Richey Himelrick, who survives.

Jerald graduated from Jennings County High School and served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Arvin Indusries/Pilot Industries/Martinrea International Inc. in North Vernon for 30 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 89 in Seymour and a former member of the Columbus Moose Lodge.

Other survivors include four children, Chris Himelrick of North Vernon, Craig Himelrick of Scottsburg, Randy Himelrick of Greensburg and Sandy Himelrick of Columbus; three stepchildren, Doug Ogden of Shelbyville, Dayna Schoolcraft of Rushville and David Ogden of Shelbyville; sister, Shirley Ross of Atlanta, Georgia; several stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Himelrick, and a stepson, Darin Ogden.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenn F. George & Son Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Burial will be at a later date at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.

A graveside military service will be conducted by a local veterans organization.

Visitation will be from noon until time of service.
