Seymour youth wrestlers dominate Winter Rumble


The Seymour Wrestling Club hosted a Winter Rumble tournament this past weekend, winning in dramatic fashion.

Seymour won a three-way tie with Madison and Union County to place first on their home mats.

Union County defeated Madison 48-45, Madison topped Seymour 46-43 and Seymour beat Union County 45-30.

The winner was decided by points, and Seymour beat-out Madison 224-222 for first.

Undefeated Seymour wrestlers on the day were: Carter Mikels (45-pounds), Gabe Chambers (60-pounds), Dane Botkin (65-pounds), Asher Ratliff (70-pounds) and Brayden RorickĀ  (115-pounds).

Seymour’s elementary record is 7-5 so far.

They will wrestle at Jennings County Thursday and Columbus East on Sunday.

Seymour is entered in the ISWA Elementary Team State tournament which will take place in Franklin on Jan. 8th.

Seymour placed 8th in state last year.
