Lodge plans Election Day fish fry

Members of Washington Masonic Lodge 13 in Brownstown will conduct the lodge’s annual Robert Coffman Memorial Scholarship Fund Fish Fry from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. or sooner if the fish runs out Tuesday in front of the lodge hall at 134 S. Main St.

The $6 meal consists of a fish sandwich breaded with Brownstown’s own Marion-Kay fish breading, chips and choice of drink that is served eat-in or carryout.

Proceeds from this event go to the Robert Coffman Memorial Masonic Scholarship Fund that helps the children and grandchildren of lodge members with the cost of higher education. Since 2011, the lodge has awarded $25,000 in college scholarships.

The lodge is a part of the Indiana Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, which was organized Jan. 13, 1818, in Madison. Washington Lodge was granted its dispensation in 1819, and its charter was granted at the annual meeting in September 1820.
