Victor W. “Terk” Terkhorn, 86, of Seymour passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born Dec. 9, 1929, in Jackson County, he was the son of Louis and Martha Petering Terkhorn, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 15, 1950, he married Kathleen Rucker, who survives.

Victor was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. He was employed as a mechanic at Browning Brothers John Deere Farm Implement for 30 years and was also employed at Union Hardware for more than 25 years.

Victor enjoyed following Brownstown Central Braves athletic sporting events. He was an avid supporter of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their church and school activities.

He was born and lived his entire life on the family farm, which is where the Terkhorn family first settled in Indiana from Germany. He always enjoyed life and his family was always most important to him.

Other survivors include two daughters, Vickie (Monte) Ault of Brownstown and Rhonda (Les) Robinson of Seymour; son-in-law, Stanley Pollert of Seymour; grandchildren, Amanda Wetzel, Craig (Jeanne) Pollert and Kyle (Sarah) Pollert, all of Brownstown, Kirsten Ault of Spraytown and Kara Shuler of Seymour; great-grandchildren, Hanna Wetzel, Tyler Wetzel, Lizzie Pollert, Jaren Shuler, Josie Ault Beavers, Danika Shuler and Kaleena Shuler; a brother, Alvin Terkhorn of Seymour; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Pollert; a granddaughter, Monica Raye Ault; a grandson, Jared Adam Robinson; two brothers, Harold and Ernest Terkhorn; two sisters, Wilma Terkhorn and Bernice Sheets; brother-in-law, Gene Sheets; his in-laws, Emma Jean Terkhorn, Gale and Carole Rucker, Layton and Avanell Roberts; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ralph and Josie Rucker.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. Phillip Bloch and the Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez officiating. Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown and from noon until time of service Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Jared A. Robinson J.A.R. Fund of Immanuel Lutheran Church or St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers Cemetery Fund.
