A book club for children in third and fourth grades meets on the second Thursday of each month at the Brownstown Public Library, 120 E. Spring St.

The Kids Only Book Club’s next meeting will be from 3:35 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Other meetings are planned for the same time Dec. 8, Jan. 12, Feb. 9, March 9, April 13 and May 11.

Participants must have read one book before each meeting. During the meeting, each participant will give a brief book talk about their selection. The goal of a book talk is to tell enough about the title to encourage fellow participants to read the book without giving away the ending.

Following the book talks, participants will have time to socialize, make recommendations for future programs and participate in various group activities.

Snacks will be provided during all meetings. If your child has any food allergies or food-related medical conditions, send a snack with your child. Bus transportation after school is available to the library. Check with your school for the current bus route. Parents should make arrangements to pick up their children promptly at 4:30 p.m.

If school is canceled due to weather, the book club also will be canceled, and that meeting will not be rescheduled.
