Avanell L. Roberts, 86, of Seymour, passed away at Covered Bridge Health Campus on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016.

Born June 16, 1930, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Ralph and Josie Goss Rucker, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Layton L. Roberts on Aug. 26, 1950, in Freetown. He preceded her in death July 28, 1992.

Avanell was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and former member of Acme United Methodist Church. She worked at Excello Shirt Factory until her retirement. Her family was her life but she loved traveling to Florida and loved her church and pastors.

Survivors include four children, Kathy (Duane) Alberring, Randall Roberts, Ronnie (Paula) Roberts and Deborah (Bill) Sons; 12 grandchildren, Tricia Pesovic, Jason Alberring, Tracy Howard, Travis Lucas, Jeremy Sons, Dustin Alberring, Layton Roberts, Aimee Killey, Erin Roberts, Gavin Sons, Landon Sons and Spencer Roberts; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and her sister, Kathleen (Victor) Terkhorn.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Gale Rucker, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Doris Denny.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. Philip Bloch and the Rev. James Rodriguez officiating. Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Acme following the service.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.
