Golda L. Thompson, 89, of Seymour, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at Greenwood Meadows.

Born April 27, 1927, in the Sauers community of Jackson County, she was the daughter of Edward and Lizettia Thiele Schroer, both of whom preceded her in death. On May 12, 1946, in Seymour, she married Earl Aldon Thompson, who preceded her in death March 17, 1996.

Golda was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, having been baptized, confirmed and married there. Her first employment was working at Seymour Woolen Mill for five years. She then was employed as a retail clerk at JC Penney & Co., retiring in 1989 after 35 years of service. For several years, Golda volunteered as a Pink Lady at Schneck Medical Center. She also did volunteer work at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aide 2 and a member of the AARP. Golda thoroughly enjoyed playing euchre.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie (Fred) Chadwell; stepdaughter, Doris (Carl) Preuss; grandchildren, Kelly Lawton and Jayme Smith; great-grandchildren, Jenna, Kaden and Raegan Lawton and Brayden and Garrett Smith; a stepgrandchild, Susan Preuss; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Christina and Joe Preuss.

Beside her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Laura Phillips, Edna Heideman, Agnes Oberman and Verna Claycamp.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg and the Rev. James Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lutheran Community Home or donor’s choice of charity.
