Juanita Korte, 87, of Seymour passed away at 4:14 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center.

Born Sept. 5, 1929, in Levi, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Sim and Alma Hurt Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Arthur Korte on May 26, 1984. He preceded her in death June 6, 2011.

Her former husband William H. “Stiffy” Owens Sr. preceded her in death Sept. 4, 2008.

Juanita was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She retired from the telephone company after 20-plus years of service and then worked at the Jackson County Schneck Memorial Hospital office part-time for 10-plus years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Eagles Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion ladies auxiliaries.

Survivors include her children, William H. “Stiffy” (Jeannine) Owens Jr.,  Tom “Pidge” Owens, Lisa (Jeff) Atha, Lori (Ivan) Schultz and Jessica R. Korte (Cody) Vogel; daughter-in-law, Jane Owens; and grandchildren, Tyson Owens, Levi Stigdon, Nathan Owens, Jason Owens and Natasha Crum.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, Myron “Turtle” and Joseph “Ears” Owens; siblings, Margaret, Annabell, Russell and Robert; and grandson Nicholas Owens.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel with the Rev. Andrew Currao and the Rev. Joseph Barlau, officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

A VFW Ladies Auxiliary service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Voss Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church Fund.
