Maggie L. Rigsby, 90, of Brownstown passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour with her family by her side.

Maggie was the youngest of nine children born on the Seegers family farm at Four Corners in Hayden on Dec. 9, 1925. She was the daughter of Rebecca Grove and August Seegers, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Robert Lee “Bob” Rigsby on June 27, 1942. He passed away May 10, 2000, after 58 years of marriage.

She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Seymour. She worked as a nursing assistant at Schneck Medical Center for 19 years.

Maggie had many interests, some being working with her flowers, writing poetry, digging up moles and reading books; but her most enjoyment in life was fixing chili for family gatherings. She was a special mother, who could tell a story and loved all her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Vera (Bruce) Rogers, Pam (Tom) Stanfield and Daniel (Rita) Rigsby; grandchildren, Bill (Nita) Patterson Jr., Shawn (Jennifer) Patterson, Alisa (Delmar) Morgan, Dan (Danielle) Rigsby Jr., Greg (Melanie) Eckelman, Matthew (Angel) Rigsby, Alanna (Joe) Feltes, Phillip (Aimee) Rigsby, Sarah (Christopher) Lockman, Rebecca Stanfield and Travis Stanfield; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Seegers, Garnet Seegers and Jay Seegers; and sisters, Betty Baldwin, Kathryn Taylor, Mildred Pugh, Minnie Mettert and Marilyn Peppers.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Voss Chapel with her grandson, the Rev. Matthew Rigsby officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or donor’s choice of charity.

Arrangements were made through Voss & Sons Funeral and Crematory Service, Seymour.
