The Rev. Harry E. Acton, 77, of Columbus died at 11:35 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at Kindred Health and Rehabilitation.

Born April 13, 1939, in Bartholomew County, he was the son of David and Martha Fenly Acton. He married Carolyn S. McKain on Sept. 27, 1957. She survives.

He pastored for more than30 years at 10 churches on the Nazarene Southwestern Indiana district. He also retired from Walmart in 2013. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Columbus and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Other survivors include a son, David W. (Nancy) Acton of Monk’s Corner, South Carolina; daughters, Sherry L. (the Rev. Terry) Kinnett of Port Orange, Florida, Kimberly Brock of Nashville and Teresa (Tim) Brock of Trafalgar; a sister, Nina (Dan) Richardson of Westport; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Laverne Perko.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Soloman officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
