Library offering programs for teens

The Jackson County Public Library is offering free classes for teens this fall in the Teen Scene at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.

Registration is required for some programs, and space is limited. Sign up at myjclibrary.org/events.

The Middle Matters class for students in grades 6 through 8 will meet at 3:40 p.m. on these days:

  • Sept. 27: Exploding boomerangs
  • Oct. 11: Blinking Origami Eyeball
  • Oct. 25: Makey Makey Project
  • Nov. 8: DIY Jar Nebula

The Just for Teens class for students in grades 9 through 12 will meet at 4:30 p.m. on these days:

  • Sept. 26: Paper Circuits
  • Oct. 3: Cutthroat Cupcake Contest: Part 2
  • Oct. 29: Escape Room (four sessions; go to myjclibrary.org for details)
  • Nov. 7: Button Cluster Keyring

There also will be combined programs for students in grades 6 through 12.

The Book-to-Movie Matinees are at 1 p.m. on these days:

  • Oct. 15: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
  • Nov. 12: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

The Teen Advisory Group will meet at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 5 and Nov. 2.
