Indiana University Southeast recently announced 23 students from Jackson County had received a total of $31,334 in scholarships for the fall 2016 semester.

Of the 1,088 IU Southeast-based scholarships awarded for the fall semester, 43 were granted to students from Jackson County.

Jackson County recipients are Emma McCullough, Danielle Meyer and Madison Persinger, all of Brownstown; Carley McCammon and Montana Wheeler, both of Medora; Hannah Barker, Haylee Barker, Janae Blackerby, Taylor Brackemyre, Abigayle Carothers, Linsey Carter, Avery Clark, Maegan Dover, Michaela Guffey, Olivia Hackman, Noah Hayes, Stephanie Hensen, Morgan Layne, Maci Lubker, Brooke Plummer, Kathryn Sturgill and Taylor Sutton, all of Seymour; and Kent Criminger of Vallonia.

Overall, 705 students earned scholarships totaling $870,926 awarded by the university for the fall.
