Theodore A. Pfeiffer Sr., 90, of Freetown passed from this life at 2:32 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Born July 3, 1926, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Howard and Wilminia Russe Pfeiffer, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Arline Stovall on June 26, 1948. She preceded him in death Sept. 19, 1997. On May 15, 1999, he married Janet M. Phillips.

Theodore was formerly employed at Stadler Packing Co., Pfeiffer Body Shop and Sportsman’s Corner Bait Shop. He was a member of Freetown Church of Christ, USAC Association, Old Timers Club, Eagles Lodge in Florida, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Seymour and was a former member of Bucks and Doe’s Square Dancing Club. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Other survivors include his children, Ted (Sherry) Pfeiffer Jr. of Freetown, Jim (Leah) Pfeiffer Sr. of Vallonia, Mary (Roy) Hendershot of Columbus, Larry (Jeanie) Pfeiffer of Freetown and Cathy (Robert) Hehe of Florida; stepchildren, Denzil (Barbara) Buckler of Indianapolis and Douglas (Regina) Buckler of Madison; 11 grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, three sisters, a grandchild, two great-grandchildren, a step-daughter and a daughter-in-law.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Freetown Church of Christ with pastor Barry Dewitt officiating. Burial will be at Freetown Cemetery with military honors presented by the VFW Post 1925 and American Legion Post 89.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike in Columbus and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Freetown Christian Church.
