An 18-year-old Jennings County man has been arrested on narcotics and other charges in the immediate aftermath of a series of heroin overdoses this week, police said.

With information gathered during the overdose investigation, deputies from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department and troopers from the Indiana State Police executed a search warrant about 2 a.m. Wednesday on West Mark Drive in the Hickory Hills neighborhood of Geneva Township, where they located a small amount of drugs, stolen handguns and drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from Lt. Mike Mowery, Jennings County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

Inside the Hayden home were Jordan McCarty, 18, and a 17-year-old female.  Jordan McCarty was arrested and charged with:

  • Altering the serial number on a handgun, a Level  5 felony
  • Possession of a narcotic drug, a level  6 felony
  • Possession of stolen property, level  6 felony
  • Possession of paraphernalia, a C misdemeanor

The sheriff’s department is investigating whether McCarty could be involved with Tuesday’s Jennings County overdoses. Mowery said criminal charges against McCarty are expected to be filed in court next week.
