BROWNSTOWN

Gerlinde Maria Rosemunde Farmer, 88, of Brownstown passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at Hoosier Christian Village.

Gerlinde was a member of Kurtz Church of the Nazarene.

Born June 18, 1928, in Erlangen Brück, West Germany, she was the daughter of Wenzl and Eli Ries Spachtholz, both of whom preceded her in death. On Nov. 19, 1948, in Erlangen Brück, West Germany, she married Selby C. Bowles, who preceded her in death. On July 2, 1982, she married James D. Farmer, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Gary Lee (Kim) Bowles of Columbus; two daughters, Pamela (Terry) Thompson and Sigrid Keata Stroh (Tony) Deaton of Brownstown; four grandchildren, Julia C. (Jackson) McKim, Joshua M. Jackson, Adrienne R. Bowles and Derek I. Bowles; and nine great-grandchildren, Jacob A. Graham, Emily M. McKim, Joshua E. McKim, Garrett L. McKim, Chlóe C. Jackson, Shelby L. Jackson, Nora S. Jackson, Selby L. Brown and Kyler J. Bowles.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was  preceded in death by a brother, Wilfried Andreas Spachtholz, and a sister, Elisabeth Spachtholz.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Kurtz Church of the Nazarene with Floyd Fisher officiating. Interment will be at Kurtz Cemetery.
