Providence downs Cougars

CLARKSVILLE

The Trinity Lutheran girls soccer team fell to Providence 9-1 in its season opener Monday.

Providence outshot the Cougars 30-9 in the contest.

At the half, the Pioneers had built a 6-1 advantage.

Junior Maddie Roark scored an unassisted lone goal for Trinity in the opening half, but the Cougars wouldn’t find the back of the net the rest of the way.

In goal, Cougars senior Hailley Peters totaled 13 saves.

The Cougars (0-1) will host Herron on Friday.
